  Learn to warp a banana gourd with leather or suede lace to make a plain or spiral knot. Participants will learn to prepare the outside of the gourd first, then learn to make the tight  knot. This technique can be applied to other items such as rocks. A selection of lacing colours will be available to make this beautiful ornament.  

  All materials and supplies will be provided for the class. Gourd members may bring their own banana gourds if you have some.

• Pine Needle Gourd Rim

  For those who like the natural look gourd, learn to pine needle a rim.  First learn to prepare longleaf pine needles for use. Then use your choice of  waxed linen or faux sinew to attach a few rows of pine needles with a  cross stitch pattern. Learn to join thread, hide loose ends, and how to nicely finish the project.

  Participants should being a gourd finished inside and out, ready for its rim treatment. If you are experienced with similar rim treatments like coiling, you may want to cut the gourd with a low 3 wave rim to bring an in and out shape to your pine needle rim. 

  Materials such as pine needles, waxed linen, and sinew will be provided. 

  Prerequisite: Beginner Gourd Art
