Teacher: Barbara Bellchambers
Looking for an interesting new rim treatment for your gourds? Come and learn about Kumihimo. Kumihimo means "gathering threads"; it is an ancient form of Japanese braiding using a variety of stringing material to make cords. You will prepare 8 strings for the Kumihimo disc, and learn how to make a round cord that can be used for necklaces, bracelets, edging for clothing, straps for purses and numerous other uses.
During the class you will complete a short bracelet or key ring as you get the hang of Kumihimo. You then will then cut cords and set up your loom to make a length of Kumihimo braid suitable for the rim of a gourd
Teacher Supplies: 6" Kumihimo disc, colourful rattail cord, instructions.
