  In this introductory class, using provided 15" table looms, you will complete all the steps needed to plan and complete your first handwoven project! You will learn how to measure a warp for your project, how to calculate yarn requirements, how to wind the warp onto the loom (called dressing the loom), and then thread a pattern and weave a sampler.
  
  Cost fee: $300

  Just got a new machine…have clothes that need mending…want to learn a fun and great skill?

  In this Introductory Course, we will walk through the basics of using a sewing machine, threading the machine and winding the bobbin, thread tension, sewing a straight stitch, and sewing tips.  

  Sewing machines are available at the ACP, however, if you would like to bring your own (be sure it works), it would be an advantage to become familiar with your own machine.  I would also suggest buying a good quality all-purpose thread and pair of embroidery scissors. 

  If this is a refresher course for you, please bring a denim needle (100/16) for your machine. 

  All other fibre materials used will be provided for this class. 

  Class maximum is 4 student

  Come learn an easy weaving technique and make a small fun wall hanging using a tapestry loom. A wall hanging tapestry is great for decorating a room or makes a lovely gift. Bring along any special yarns for embellishments if you have them. All skill levels are welcome!

  You will begin to weave in class and finish the weaving on your own time at ACP.

   Instructions on how to take your towel off the loom will be provided as well.

  This 100% cotton towel would make a lovely addition to any bathroom! Knowing how to set up and weave a pre-designed project helps fill the gap between introductory knowledge and weaving independence.

  Wildly Natural Art Weaving

  Do you find that the natural things you find on your walks are inspiring? Would love to have them displayed for your enjoyment all year long?

  This nature-inspired weaving includes lots of different yarns and roving, along with chunks of pieces of wood, and any other bits. 

  Your nature walk is now on your wall! 

  Bring your wild yarns, roving and something to hang your warp from, often for me it’s a small, fallen branch. In addition, bring anything you would like to experiment with weaving into your piece.

  No previous experience necessary!

  Then you will begin to weave in class and finish the weaving on your own time at ACP.

  Each loom will have a different pattern and so you will have the option of weaving two or more mug rugs, depending on how much time you have available. Instructions on how to take your mug rugs off the loom will be provided as well.

  These mug rugs are a chance to try out a weave with tabby (such as overshot or crackle) which will advance your weaving confidence. If you do not want to weave mug rugs, you may weave a different small project.
