Wax Resist Technique

Instructor : Anne Carling

Cost: $30 for members (includes daily centre fee) $40 for non-members

All Covid precautions in effect.

Learn to use a kiska pen similar to a pysanki pen to make wax resist designs on a gourd.  Wax resist is best for line patterns or silhouettes. Your choice of dyes or stains will be applied for colour.  The wax will provide the final outside sealant.

Bring a gourd cleaned on the outside ready for a design. Seal the inside if it is open. You may want to use several small shards for practice and possibly make into jewelry. Pens and wax will be provided. You will also have the opportunity to try using a stylus to apply wax.

Non members will be provided with prepared shards to make brooches or pendants.  This technique can be applied to other hard surfaces that willl absorb ink.
