    Join us on Wednesdays this summer for FREE drop-in art activities perfect for kids of all ages! Each week we'll do a different small make-and-take craft, all materials will be provided. Find us from 11am-1pm on the lower level of the atrium in Peterborough Square, beginning July 3rd through August 28th.

  • Youth - Treasure Box (Ages 6+)

    Collage - Mary coxFor ages 6 and up! A perfect arts activity for your summer! 

    In this workshop we will decorate prefabricated wooden boxes using several different techniques, including painting, collage, and applique methods. Students can  let their imagination free and design their treasure boxes however they may wish!

    We endeavor to use easy to source materials in our activities so participants can continue practicing what they have learned if they wish.

    This class is $30 per registrant. All materials are included. The class is 3 hours long and instructed by Weavers' and Spinners' guild member Julia.

    A completed permission form must be submitted for each participant at the beginning of the class. If the participant and yourself are both comfortable please complete and submit a photo release as well.

  • Youth - Learn to Weave (Ages 7+)

    For ages 7 and up, a  perfect educational and unique arts activity for your summer! 

    In this introductory workshop we will learn about looms and play with various weaving techniques. Weaving has a rich history throughout all cultures, and is something we often don't realize plays a huge part in everyday life!     

    We will explore the mechanics of several weaving methods. Our first activity will be to create a small woven sample on a cardboard loom. Then we will explore the Inkle loom, used for weaving  thin strips of material and bands. Lastly, there will be table looms set up for everyone to try their hand at.

    We endeavor to use easy to source materials in our activities so participants can continue practicing even after the class if they so wish.

    This class is $30 per registrant. All materials are included. The class is 3 hours long and instructed by Weavers' and Spinners' guild member Julia.

    A completed permission form must be submitted for each participant at the beginning of the class. If the participant and yourself are both comfortable please complete and submit a photo release as well.

  • Youth - Felting (Ages 7+)

    For ages 7 and up! A perfect arts activity for your summer! 

    This workshop will introduce students to wet felting! A natural fibre like sheep's wool is use along with hot and cold water,  soap, and applying friction to cause the fibres to bind together into a solid piece. While exploring this method we will play with shape, blending colour, and creating flat and three-dimensional forms.

    We endeavor to use easy to source materials in our activities so participants can continue practicing even after the class if they wish.

    This class is $30 per registrant. All materials are included. The class is 3 hours long and instructed by Weavers' and Spinners' guild member Julia.

  • Youth - Sewing a Felt Animal (Ages 8+)

    For ages 8 and up, a  perfect educational and unique arts activity for your summer! 

    Using some basic hand sewing stitches students will create their own animal stuffy! We'll start the class with a few pre-cut pattern options in felt, learning how to stich pieces together, add stuffing, and embroider details. Next students will create their own pattern for an animal of their choice using the techniques above.

  • Youth - Basket Making (Ages 7+)

    For ages 7 and up! A perfect arts activity for your summer! 

    We will learn how to make our own basket out of colourful reed! We'll begin with a solid base and learn how to start weaving. We'll cover some basic techniques like twining, consider colour choices and patterns, and work our way up to adding some fun decoration like beads. Lastly we'll learn how to make the rim and finish off our baskets.     

    We endeavor to use easy to source materials in our activities so participants can continue practicing even after the class is done if they wish.

    This class is $30 per registrant. All materials are included. The class is 3 hours long and instructed by Weavers' and Spinners' guild member Julia.
