Description
Size 4" wide by 9 1/2" high
With the front half of this gourd carved, the back has been left plain and painted a Christmas green. The front centre has leaf shapes carved into it springing out from a carved central vein. Copper wire runs along this carved section up to the top where it bents across the top to the centre and slightly tips up. Both sides have been stippled to create a pleasing dotted pattern. All the carved and stippled areas have been painted a light colour. The inside of the gourd is painted black so the leaf pattern shows nicely. The gourd is supported on a black wooden base topped with a pewter ring. This gourd was created in a class led by Rosario Wilke, a California artist, gourder and teacher. Rosario enjoys challenging her students with her creative pieces, and I enjoy the challenge!
